2025年09月07日
Accompanied by 26 senior officials and members, CNAIC Chairman Mr. Thomas T. L. Wu participated in the 11th Cross-Strait, Hong Kong and Macao Forum on Economic and Trade held in Macau from September 7 to 9, 2025. He also took the opportunity to visit enterprises based in Shenzhen to accelerate the interaction and cooperation across the Greater China area.
During their stay in Shenzhen, the CNAIC delegation toured three iconic companies, including: (1) Avary Holding, the world’s largest PCB manufacturer; (2) SZ DJI Technology Co Ltd (DJI), the global leader in drone technology; and (3) Tencent, the giant of internet services. Received by high-level executives, the delegates not only gained a better understanding on the product lines and services that the three firms have to offer, but also realized the latest trends of developments in these industries.
The second leg of the trip was Macau where the CNAIC delegation joined the 11th Cross-Strait, Hong Kong and Macau Forum on Economic and Trade. The Forum was first held in 2012 in Hong Kong, and has since been held annually on a rotating basis among the four major business organizations in the Greater China area, namely: Taiwan’s CNAIC, the Mainland’s China Federation of Industrial Economics, Hong Kong’s Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and Macau Chamber of Commerce. It is one of the few platforms that have been supported by the key business organizations in the Greater China area for dialogues.
Attended by approximately 150 business leaders, the Forum invited Mr. Kin Ip Tai, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau, and Mr. Yang Quanzhou, Deputy Administrator-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, as Guests of Honor for the Opening Ceremony. It also featured remarks by the heads of the four organizations whose participation highlighted the significance of the timely event, including CNAIC Chairman Mr. Thomas T. L. Wu, Macau Chamber of Commerce President Mr. Chui, Sai Cheong, Hong Kong’s Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mr. Jonathan Choi, and China Federation of Industrial Economics President Mr. Li, Yizhong.
The following keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Ho, Teng Iat, Vice President of Macau Chamber of Commerce, who spoke on the topic of “Culture, Sports, MICE, and Trade as Engines for Cooperation,” identifying the four paths for boosting collaborative development in economy across the Greater China area.
During the panel discussion, the panelists focused their sharing on two themes:
1. Business communities across the Taiwan Strait and in Hong Kong and Macau team up for global deployment: Participants agreed that amid demographic challenges, the emerging Global South nations have provided a prime opportunity with their demographic dividends and economic potentials that can help enterprises in the Greater China area with their international expansion. By integrating Mainland China’s manufacturing capacities, Taiwan’s cutting-edge high-tech industry, and the advanced financial services of Hong Kong and Macau, the four regions can avail of their economic strengths to jointly tap the international market. 2. Empower new development with new productivity: This session discussed the importance of upgrades and transformation for industries, emphasizing data as the core of future growth. To meet market demands, enterprises should formulate corporate strategies by leveraging data and their own advantages, and in the meantime, follow the trends of green economy to pursue sustainable development.
Facing the growing global protectionism and supply chain restructuring, Taiwan needs to redefine risks and explore diverse markets, helping industries expand into emerging markets for additional business opportunities. With shared culture, languages, and massive economic outputs, the four regions of Taiwan, the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau would create the best ground for exchanges and cooperation empowered by the remarkable manufacturing capacities and the vast market.
As the apex business association in Taiwan, CNAIC will continue to serve as a bridge to promote the interaction and collaboration among the industry sectors in the Greater China area, fostering a win-win landscape for economic developments.
